Star Student - Kitty

Thursday, December 18

Kitty was given the Star Student award for the character trait of Responsibility. Unfortunately I was not notified of this ahead of time so I wasn't there for the ceremony... Kitty thinks that her teacher turned the forms in late because the other student from her class that received the award didn't have parents at the ceremony either... So I found out about it when Kitty came home from school and showed it to me. :(

This is what Kitty's teacher wrote about her:  Kitty has shown responsibility by turning in assignments on time, being a help to other students in need, and always following directions when they are given, the first time. She is willing to give answers in class and listens intently when I am teaching or children are presenting!

Christmas wreaths

Monday, December 15

When I was in elementary school, I remember someone in my class would always bring these treats to school. I always liked them and when I found a recipe for them I decided to make a batch. They are made with corn flakes, marshmallows and red hot cinnamon candies. Yum! (When I have a minute to find the recipe again, I will post it here.)

Funny potato

The kids were peeling some potatoes for me for dinner and this is what one of them looked like! We thought it looked like a whale or some type of fish.

Ward Christmas Party

Friday, December 12, 2014

Our ward this year did a Night in Bethlehem themed Christmas party. The idea was for each of the ward auxiliary groups to decorate a canopy & table in an old-time Bethlehem theme and each group had a different food or activity assignment. We were then supposed to dress up and come and experience a little what it may have been like during the time of Jesus' birth. Since DH is in the YM presidency, he helped with their table which was mostly vegetables & fruit. DH decided that he wanted to try and make something a little authentic so we found a recipe for baked falafel and made several batches of that and took it with us. It is definitely a unique taste!

Here is a picture of Kitty dressed up and holding the gift that was given by the ward.
