I was sitting on the couch in the family room and burped. Kay, from across the room, said, "Nice burp Mom!"
Here are a few Kay talks that my dad sent me. They are told from his perspective:
Story 1: I was sitting on the chair near the hassock (leather footstool that they have) and Kay asked what the tape was for on the hassock. I explained that it was broken and grandma fixed it with some tape so the insides wouldn’t come out. And Kay said, “Oh it has an owie."
Story 2: It's always fun to be with Kay. When I came to your home yesterday she greeted me with, "Let's play chess." Later she asked, "Do you still have the rainbow ice cream at your home?" (My dad): "No." (Kay): "Well you can buy some at the grocery store."

Weekend fun!
Sunday, February 19, 2012
Since the kids were off school on Monday for Presidents' Day, I decided to let them stay up late watching some movies and sleep in the family room if they wanted. We pulled out the sleeper bed in our sectional and the kids all piled on to watch the movies. The three middle girls were the only ones who ended up sleeping there, but everyone had fun!

Family sickness
Tuesday, February 7, 2012
The week after Luke's birthday our family came down with a nasty stomach bug. The only one who didn't seem affected at all was M&M - and lucky for her because she was involved in the tech crew for her school musical and the performances were that week. Here is a picture of Kay and MJ on our worst sickness day:
I had been up during the night with stomach cramps and then felt horrible Tuesday morning. When the little girls woke up, DH went in to get them out of bed and discovered that MJ and Kay had both thrown up in their beds during the night. Since I was sick (and at the low point in my blood counts from chemo treatment), I wasn't able to help much with them. DH spent the morning bathing the girls and changing all of their bedding. The girls and I spent the whole day just laying around in front of the T.V. Blondie came home and didn't feel great and took a short nap but was feeling well enough to go to school the next day. Luke felt bad later that night and threw up right before he went to bed. Luke and Kitty ended up staying home from school the next day and DH stayed home from work feeling not too good on Wednesday and Friday.

Sisterly love
Wednesday, February 1, 2012
After Luke opened his presents on his birthday I happened to look over at the girls and Kay was crouched down on the floor and then MJ came over and laid down on top of her. Luckily I had the camera handy and was able to snap this picture.

Luke's Birthday
Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Luke turned 11 this year. We just had a small family party this year and I attempted to make an Iron Man cake for him. Some of the cool presents he got this year were a remote control helicopter, some roller blades and a Wii video game - Super Smash Bros Brawl which he has been dying to get. He loved trying out the helicopter that night and has loved playing with it any chance he can get. Right now we are waiting for a replacement parts kit because a small piece broke off of one of the rotor blades. The replacement kit is pretty cheap though and that is supposedly one of the advantages to the helicopter that I bought for him. The day after Luke's birthday was warm enough that he went outside after school and tried out his roller blades first thing. He has been really wanting roller blades so he can skate around the neighborhood with his sisters. Luke is one of my easier kids to shop for because he lets you know up front what he wants and will talk about it to no end. He's a pretty easy going kid too and it's fun to have him around. He is also super excited to be in 11 year old scouts.

Finally some snow!
Saturday, January 7, 2012
We have had a dry, dry, dry winter so far! We had one or two small snowstorms around Thanksgiving time and then really nothing to speak of after that. We finally got a little bit on January 7th, so the kids took advantage of it and spent some time playing outside in it.

Puzzle problems
While we were working on the puzzle that DH opened on New Year's Eve, we started noticing that there were puzzle pieces that just didn't seem to be there. Well, we finished the puzzle with all of the pieces that we had and this is what we ended up with:
This was a brand new puzzle that DH just opened that night. It's a little frustrating going to all of that work to do a puzzle and not being able to even finish it!

Happy New Year 2012!!
Saturday, December 31, 2011
My parents came over to our house for some New Year's Eve fun. We had a couple of tables set up so we could have more than one game going at a time. DH at one point started a puzzle downstairs too. We didn't take a lot of pictures this year. I'm just glad to I was feeling well enough to have some fun with everyone. (And can I just say that it is torture watching Dick Clark every year... Do you really think he enjoys doing the New Year's celebration still???)
