Blondie had to do a science fair project for her school class this year. She decided to do it on how different substances can affect the germination of bean seeds. She planted the bean seeds and then added different substances to their water and watered it with the different substances and then recorded the time it took for the seeds to sprout. She added milk, salt and soda and then had a control group that was given just plain water.
She presented the project to her class and then she was chosen by her teacher to participate in the district science fair which also took place at our school. She had to present her project to 3 different judges at the district science fair. She didn't make it on to the next level but it was a good experience for her.
The seeds that had salt added to their water never sprouted - we dug one up and this is it on the left compared to an unplanted seed on the right. |
