Prom 2015

Saturday, March 14, 2015

In February, M&M was asked to prom by a friend from band. He had someone give her a ball made of rubber bands. She had to unwrap all of the rubber bands to find this note inside, along with his name:

She answered him by writing a letter on individual Dum Dum lollipops and then numbering the lollipops so that he could unscramble the message. Then she had friends give him a bunch of lollipops throughout the day until he had all of them. The message said, "I would be a Dum Dum if I did not say yes" and then it had her name.

A couple of months ago I was searching for some modest formal dresses for M&M and found a listing in the ksl.com classified section that listed several that I was interested in, all from the same seller. I met the lady selling the dresses at a parking lot and ended up buying 3 of her dresses - and this was one of them. They all fit M&M perfectly. The one she wore to prom was her favorite because she loves the color blue - the other 2 dresses are a light purple and black. This one reminds me of Cinderella's dress - a very pale blue with a pretty floral pattern with sequins on the top of the dress.

So, we had the dress early on but we didn't have shoes to go with it. So the Saturday before the dance, M&M and I spent the day driving around to stores to try and find what M&M was looking for - some sparkly high heeled shoes with closed toes - but not too high and she didn't really want the shoes with straps that we found everywhere. After going to several stores and having no luck we finally went to J.C. Penney at the mall and found what she was looking for.
M&M did her own hair. It was nice that they had the activities the night before because she had plenty of time to get ready and wasn't super stressed and rushed.
M&M sent her date a picture of the color of the dress and he showed up with a perfectly matching bow tie and vest.

M&M and her date were in a group with several other couples from band and they had a lot of fun. They had some pre-dance activities the night before where they had a nerf gun war and played human sized Hungry Hungry Hippos. The dinner was served at her date's house and they had candlelight dinner set up with his sisters serving and typed menus for them to pick items from. They were also served sparkling cider. The dance was at Thanksgiving Point.
Boutonniere we made for M&M's date.
