Change... finally!

When we first moved into this ward my husband was called to be the Elder's Quorum secretary and then several months after that he was called as the first counselor in the presidency. A year or so later our ward had some boundary changes, a new Elder's Quorum president was called and my husband was kept in as the first counselor. Finally, after just over 5 years of serving in the presidency, a new presidency was called. It's been a little frustrating for him at times and he has definitely been a little burned out lately. The day that the new presidency was put in, it seemed like about half of the ward was reorganized - including a new Young Men's presidency. The other members of the old EQ Presidency were immediately put into new callings, but my husband went untouched for the last month. We were a little fearful at first that he might be called to scouting (he's not a big camper) or the Activities Committee chair.

Then on Sunday morning at around 8:15 he got a call from the stake executive secretary asking if the two of us could meet with a member of the stake presidency at the stake center at 9:15 - our ward meets at 9:00. Apparently they really wanted to get him called and sustained that day in whatever this new calling was so we agreed since there weren't really many other options. We showed up to church at 9, DH dropped the kids off at their classes while I played the piano for primary opening exercises. A few minutes after that I asked someone to fill in on the piano for me until I got back and then we jumped in the car with Baby K to head over to the stake center (luckily here in Utah that is usually not too far).

So, my husband's new calling is Assistant Ward Clerk over finances. He has been a ward clerk before in our married student ward so this one shouldn't be too bad. It will mostly consist of counting tithing/donations after church on Sundays and then probably some more time required around tithing settlements at the end of the year. On Sunday he stayed after to count the donations and was there for 3 hours! This ward is definitely going to be a little more time involved then the student ward - but it was Fast Sunday so that took more time also. He really enjoyed the time that he was able to visit with the bishopric counselor and getting to know him a little better.
