Leaving Island Park

Friday, June 22, 2012

Friday we had to check out of the place by 11 a.m.  Unfortunately when DH went out to the car to start getting it ready to load up he discovered that we had a dead battery.  The night before I had gone out to the car to turn the cabin lights on so that they would be on when DH and M&M were looking for some things in the car and apparently I put it on the wrong setting which caused the lights to stay on even after the doors were shut and the car off.  So after getting some things ready and getting the kids situated I went in search of some jumper cables.  I knew that there was someone out and about a couple of doors down from us so I knocked on the door and the man was nice enough to lend us some cables.  Finally after a lot of scrambling around we had the car running, all of the cars packed and the garbage taken out.  We made it out a few minutes after 11:00 and after a stop at the trash drop off place we were on the road again.  Our family went north towards Vancouver, WA to visit DH's family, DH's brother just younger than him headed south with his family and their sister to Idaho Falls and then the youngest brother and his family headed south back to our house to spend the night before they flew out to their next destinations.

We were luckily able to split up our drive into two days and stopped at my oldest brother's house in Coeur d'Alene, ID to spend Friday night.  The kids LOVED playing out in their backyard while us parents sat around and chatted.  It was nice to take a little bit of a break after our Yellowstone adventure.  The weather there was beautiful and we even had a nice evening thunderstorm.  Luke really enjoyed playing with his only boy cousins that are close to his age.  (Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures while we were there so you'll just have to use your imagination!)

The next morning we packed up the car again and after making some sandwiches for lunch, we hit the road again for our last leg of the trip to Vancouver.  Thanks K & Jay for letting us stay the night with you!!
