Sunday best!

Sunday, April 17, 2011
Here are a couple of the girls showing off some new Sunday dresses:

Kitty turns 6!!

Sunday, April 17, 2011Kitty's birthday fell on a Sunday this year, so we ended up celebrating part of It on Saturday since on Sunday ended up being busy. Kitty decided she wanted some cupcakes this year so I tried out a new recipe that I found for some rainbow cupcakes. They were quite a bit more work than normal cupcakes, but they ended up looking really cool. I ordered a present online for Kitty this year (some Tangled polly pocket sized dolls) and we didn't get it until Tuesday... I felt kind of bad about that.

Stairs!!

Saturday, April 16, 2011
MJ has learned how to climb stairs! Now she just needs to learn how to go down them safely (and to quit stopping to play when she is only partway up)...

MJ and glasses

MJ loves pulling glasses off of people. Here are some pictures of her playing with her dad's sunglasses while watching Blondie's soccer game. She is the first baby we've had who only sees her dad with sunglasses - not eyeglasses! (Unfortunately though, we have two other family members with eyeglasses now that she also loves to play with...)

Enjoying the weather!

Saturday, April 16, 2011
Spring always teases us here in Utah. We'll have a couple of warm, sunny days and then a cold front will come through with some snow or rain. Here are some pictures of MJ trying out the swing for the first time on one of our warm days. (Both of the straps have broken on the swing and we can't find the buckle to one of them. I was able to buy some new webbing material to at least fix one of the straps so that MJ can use it.)

Piano recital

Thursday, April 14, 2011
M&M, Luke and Blondie participated in their first piano recital this year put on by their teacher. The kids had a little over a month to learn their piece and to memorize it. The teacher is someone who used to live in our ward and they moved out several years ago to a neighborhood not too far from the kids' elementary school. There are two other families in our ward that have 3 kids each taking lessons from her as well so it was nice to see how all of the kids are doing on the piano.None of our kids were too excited about having to dress up and perform in front of people, but I think it is good experience for them and they all did well. Blondie was the first one to perform after the teacher and her daughter played a duet and she was so nervous introducing herself and her song. After she was finished playing, she sat down next to me and just started crying - I think it was a release from the stress she was feeling, plus the relief of being done with her song and performing it well.

Cute pics

Waiting with Grandma S for Kay to start opening her birthday presents.

Daddy tickling MJ

"No MJ, you cannot play with the camera..."
This last one was taken by Luke. Notice how sometimes when MJ smiles she squints her left eye.

Tired princess

Being a princess is a tiring job:

This was taken the day after Kay's birthday.

Kay turns 3!!

Wednesday, April 6, 2011
Kay started out the day by opening up a present in the morning that was a new dress & sweater to wear. Later on she and her sisters Blondie & Kitty had some fun with foam stickers. MJ took a good nap in the afternoon so I was able to decorate Kay's Cinderella birthday cake. We got takeout from McDonald's for dinner and then Grandma & Grandpa S came over for presents and cake and ice cream. Blondie & Kitty were jealous of several of Kay's presents and she had to fight for them (and still does). Kay is such a cute, sweet little girl and it's fun listening to her vocabulary expand. She loves dressing up and she loves playing outside. It was funny watching her open her presents because she would open one, look at it and then set it aside and say, "Okay, what's next?" Kay's big gift was a box of princess dress up clothes & shoes which she then had to try on each one with all of their accessories! As soon as we got her outfitted in one of the costumes, she wanted to take it off and put on a different one! I also had a hard time getting a good picture of Kay smiling. Hopefully she will do better next week at the photo studio...

Sticker fun!

Kay in her new dress (super cute dress with sweater that I found on the clearance racks)

Kay had to wait a few minutes to open her presents because her dad got a phone call from someone that he needed to talk to.
Finally on to the presents!!

Snow White (and that's Luke being a good big brother and helping her put a necklace on - he even helped her with the earrings...)

Cinderella

Aurora (Sleeping Beauty)

Belle (Beauty & the Beast)

This was my second time using the Cinderella cake pan. I also made a Cinderella cake for Blondie's 3rd birthday.
Kay was super excited for the cake & candles. On Sunday we had a birthday cake for my mom and Kay tried to blow out the candles for her!
